Hi, I'm Tobi!

Welcome to my homepage. Here you can find some information about me, my projects, and what else I'm interested in.
I

About me

I have both an M.sc. in computer science and a finished apprenticeship as Software engineer. Not only my work is about computers, I also like to code some pet projects in my free time. When I'm not working on that, I enjoy learning new languages, jugger, climbing and scuba diving.

My technical skills are very broad. I worked with Java, C++, python, a bit of web-development and also played around with the basics of Haskell and Prolog. I enjoy trying to solve problems with different approaches to keep my mind open for new ideas.

Since a couple of years, I found out that learning new languages is also very interesting. I started with japanese (which I was able to use for my research stay at UTokyo), I am currently working on learning spanish. Instead of focusing on a single language, my goal is to speak different languages at a moderate level, like B1.

Projects

This is a selection of projects that I worked on:
  • SpaCo: Simple spanish conjugation trainer
  • Doko-Checker (WIP): Tool, which analyzes by simulation the value of a hand of the german card game Doppelkopf
  • PeTrack: Worldwide used research software to extract and analyze pedestrian data from video recordings.
  • blescan: Mesh-based sensors to analyze pedestrian denseness of crowds by scanning for BLE-devices
  • Teach-R: Virtual classroom
Jugger

Jugger

Jugger is a fun 5 vs. 5 team sport, which combines many different elements like condition and reaction speed. I play in the first every jugger team of Aachen: Aixcalibur. Here, I also do voluntary work as president of our sports club.

Scuba Diving

I do not only enjoy the underwater world itself. Instead, I also view scuba diving as a sport, where you work on your own skills. I really like working with scuba diving students, teach them good practices and showing them some tips and tricks. As a VDST TL* instructor, I also do voluntary work in my diving club.

Climbing

I like both bouldering climbing and rope climbing. It started with a couple times per month, but nowadays, I go to the climbing gym multiple times per week.
